Nuffield Health have recently been awarded the highest status possible, after their risk management procedures were assessed by the NHS Litigation Authority (NHSLA).
The purpose of the NHSLA is to handle negligence claims and to improve risk management practices in the NHS, thus reducing the number of such claims. NHSLA services are also available to the private healthcare sector, including private hospital groups such as Nuffield Health.
Level 3 status, which has now been achieved by the Nuffield Health group and which includes the Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital in Chandlers Ford, means that;
“The process for managing risk…. is working across the entire organisation. Where deficiencies have been identified through monitoring, action plans must have been drawn up and changes made to reduce the risks.”
Over two days of testing, Nuffield Health had to demonstrate that it was monitoring its own implemented processes for managing 50 key risks including governance, workforce, safe environment, clinical care and “learning from experience” in all of its 30 hospital facilities across the UK.
Dr Andy Jones, Nuffield Health Medical Director, said;
“External accreditation is an important part of ensuring that we are meeting the highest standards of independent healthcare and we are proud to be the only private provider to achieve level three compliance against the NHSLA standards.”
