December 11, 2012
By

Archers Road Railway Footbridge

A group of lager louts  hanging around the Archers Road/Beaulieu Road footbridge threatened a local man with a broken bottle and attempted to rob him on  Saturday evening 8 December 2012.

The incident happened between 8 and 9 pm when four males surrounded the forty year-old man as he approached the footbridge from Beaulieu Road and demanded money.

Two were on bicycles and two were on foot carrying two cases of Stella lager – It was alleged one man smashed a bottle and held it to the man’s throat.

When the gang discovered the man had no money, they let him go but then approached another man carrying shopping bags who was forced to run for it.

Officers are keen to trace the second victim who has not reported the incident to police yet or any other witnesses who may have seen what happened or saw the men in the area before or after the incident.
