Video shows Derren Brown scaring ride testers with new VR footage

Thorpe Park, one of the South’s premier theme parks has released video footage of people’s terrified reactions while testing an upgrade to their popular ‘ghost train’ attraction. the Derren Brown Experiment.

A group of ten volunteers who all come from walks of life where showing no fear is part of the job description were quickly reduced to “quivering wrecks” by the virtual reality ride which they experienced under ‘laboratory conditions”

The list of brave human guinea pigs who don’t scare easily included a boxer, a bungee jumper, a TA reservist, a detective who deals with gang crime, a stunt woman, a security guard, a martial arts instructor, a prison officer and a secondary school teacher.

Heart rates hit 183 bpm as the mind manipulating magician Derren Brown subjected the volunteers to virtual shock after shock as he played them the latest spine tingling footage form the yet to be launched attraction now named Derren Brown’s Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon.

The world famous Illusionist said:

“Over the last few weeks I have been testing out the components of the attraction and decided to run scare tests on a selection of participants who claim they are totally fearless – the reactions have been incredible. Visitors to the Ghost Train will experience a heart stopping combination of next generation technology, grand illusion, live action and special-effects, completely unalike anything they will have seen before. We are making this bigger, better and scarier than last year.”

Afterwards, stunt woman, Carol Nulty gasped:

“I thought I had to be pretty fearless in my job, but this lived up to expectations, the VR is flawlessly real – you really believe there is a demon in the room with you! This is not a ride for the faint hearted.”

Another participant, Emilia Cain-Heritage added:

“As a bungee jumper, I face fear on a regular basis but this was a new level in fear – so, so real and absolutely terrifying’.”

Derren Brown’s Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon opens on Friday 31 March 2017 and Eastleigh News Editor Kieran James is will be one of the first people to try it!

Look out for Kieran’s terrifying review coming soon!
