Football fans and those in need of a new car are in luck over coming weeks.
Saints legend Francis Benali is set to pop up at various locations across Hampshire in a bid to help one lucky person win a brand-new Ford EcoSport.
Francis has joined forces with south coast automotive group Hendy to launch a massive lottery with a new car as the star prize. The draw forms the latest part of his fundraising drive for Cancer Research UK.
Last year Francis completed a mammoth running and cycling challenge – Benali’s Big Race – visiting all Premier League and Championship grounds in just two weeks. Every day he ran a marathon and cycled more than 75 miles. Now he is on a mission to boost the money already raised through the car lottery with Hendy.
The Saints star will be popping up at the following locations to help sell tickets in coming weeks:
- Hendy Ford, Leigh Road, Eastleigh – Saturday April 22
- Hendy Ford, Easton Lane, Winchester – Saturday April 30
- Hendy Ford, West Quay Road, Southampton – Saturday May 13
Tickets, which are £5 each, will remain available to buy at www.benalisbigrace.com until May 20 and the winner will be announced at Benali’s Big Ball – an evening of fundraising at St Mary’s Stadium in May.
‘The chance to win a car and the gala evening will be the perfect way to keep the funds coming in for Cancer Research UK and the amazing job everyone is doing.
‘I’m looking forward to meeting people over the coming weeks and getting stuck in to raise as much as we can for this fantastic charity.’
Hendy commercial director Mark Busby added:
‘We’re delighted to be able to help in Francis’ fundraising journey with the donation of this amazing prize.
“Our staff are very excited to meet the man himself as he visits our dealerships and we’re urging others to come along too and get their tickets before it’s too late.’
A spokesperson for Cancer Research UK said.
‘Franny is a fantastic ambassador for CRUK and we are incredibly lucky to have had him fundraising for us since his first challenge in 2014. Franny looks set to hit and exceed £500,000 once he has hosted the Gala Dinner, getting him half way to his million pound target he set when he first started fundraising for us.
‘The upcoming dinner is set to be a great night for all those who attend and in addition to this, thanks to Hendy, the team is also raffling a brand-new car which will raise even more funds for our research.’
