Spitfires call for ex players reunion

May 18, 2017
By

Eastleigh FC founder Derik Brooks

With the release of ‘The Story So Far’ the history of Eastleigh Football Club and a players reunion all set for Sunday 28th May from 3pm at The Silverlake Stadium, several players of Swaythling, Swaythling Athletic and Eastleigh Football Club have been found in various corners of the world. There are still several more still to be unearthed. With 1990s midfielder Robbie Abbott now living in Thailand, 1960s goalkeeper Gordon Moody in South Africa, the net has been thrown wide to try to contact as many ex players as possible

This is a final push to try and welcome to the reunion as many ex players as possible. We are still trying to search out Keith Cooper, a wing half, who is the Clubs second all time appearance maker and was at the club from 1968 through to 1986. Just shy of 600 appearances for the Club.

Also still on the missing list is Tony Mucci a striker from the late 1980’s, former manager Tony Noble, John Clarkson a left back from 1956 through to 1970 over 300 appearances for the Club and Richard ‘Dickie’ Morgan again with over 300 appearances for the Club going back to the early 1950’s, 1960’s left back Ricky Ironside.

Of the more recent times we are still searching the whereabouts of goalkeeper Colin Matthews, striker Ricky Fernandez, Jason Scannell, Simon De’ath amongst others.

If you can help please contact organiser Ray Murphy on 07508 431451 or rmurphy@eastleighfc.com.

The publication was finally sent to print this week and will be first seen at the reunion on the Sunday.  The reunion starts at 3pm and will go on through till midnight. The club are delighted to be able to advise that President and founder Derik Brooks will be in attendance for part of the day and others attending include former manager Trevor Parker who is coming back from Portugal to attend, ex striker John Robson, former skipper Mel Davolls, striker Jack Midson, record appearance holder for the Club in Ian Knight, Bill Ragan, Terry Rawlins, Dave Bundy, Dean Byrne, defenders Chris Collins and Robbie Marshall, just a few names to wet the appetite.

The book ‘The Story So Far’ is still available to pre order at £15 per copy plus postage. It will be on general sale from Tuesday 30th May.
