Yoga Charity set to raise £3,000

September 6, 2017

Announcing the launch of Laura Green Yoga 60 Sun Salute Charity Challenge in Partnership with Solent Mind. A physical challenge to get fit, focus the mind and fundraise for mental health awareness, aiming to raise £3,000 by bringing together 100 people on Saturday 14th October to be guided through 60 Sun Salutations.
Yoga students in Southampton and Hampshire are challenged to complete 60 rounds of Sun Salutations, a cardiovascular sequence of yoga postures, this challenge is the yoga equivalent of a 10K run! Proceeded by a 6-week training programme which draws on yoga as an essential tool for positive mental health.

The final challenge will be held at Richard Taunton’s College, Southampton, on 14th October 2017, at 1.30pm–3.30pm. The Laura Green Yoga community is committed to a strong yoga practice which supports mental health.
Join 100 other yogis on Saturday 14th October and be guided through 60 Surya Namaskaras aka Sun Salutes. The Sun Salutes will be broken down into rounds of 10, each round being guided by one of the Laura Green Yoga family of teachers. But it’s not just about 1 day. Leading up to the event you will be supported and encouraged to complete a daily round of 6 Sun Salutes with weekly videos from each of our 6 teachers as well as learning about the benefits of Sun Salutes in class. Yoga has proven to be beneficial for mental health, and over the 6 weeks leading up to the challenge we would like to encourage and support yogis to have a more consistent practice or to start practicing yoga and reap the benefits of a yoga practice and see for themselves how a yoga can ease to ease stress and anxiety and improve mental health and well being.

Solent Mind supports over 12,000 people each year in Hampshire. They provide information, guidance, advice, and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem in Hampshire. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. They refuse to give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.

Tickets: £30 / person, must be bought in advance via the Just Giving Page
