Eastleigh lose away to Boreham Wood

October 4, 2017
By

Bruno Andrade’s second-half goal ensured Eastleigh came away without a point away to Boreham Wood last night at Meadow Park.

The Portuguese broke the deadlock in the 77th minute to lift the hosts to 10th in the National League table while Richard Hill’s Spitfires slip to 17th.

The match started at a fast pace and, in the seventh minute, Danny Woodards cut inside and beat three defenders before laying the ball off for Kane Smith, whose shot was blocked.

Smith then narrowly headed over the bar midway through the first half before Dan Holman went through on goal but Ross Flitney got down to save his low strike.

Andrade grazed the post with a 20-yard strike on the stroke of half-time and Eastleigh had two good chances through skipper Callum Howe and Danny Hollands after the break.

But it was Andrade who found the net when the ball was dragged across the box by Ricky Shakes and fell for him to thump it into the bottom corner.

The Spitfires takes on Wrexham away on Saturday in what will be another tough fixture for Hill’s men.
