Simon Heslop made it 3-1 to Eastleigh

Richard Hill’s Spitfires couldn’t quite finish the job on Saturday as their 3-1 lead turned in to a 3-3 in a match that saw both sides go down to 10 men after having their goalkeepers sent off.

Eastleigh took the lead as Sam Matthews’ inswinging corner flew straight into the net and substitute Chris Zebroski then made it 2-0 to the visitors in the 22nd minute, before Scott McManus pulled one back from the penalty spot for Halifax.

Halifax keeper Sam Johnson saw red after picking up a second yellow for a nasty looking challenge outside the box after 58 minutes.

Simon Heslop then made it 3-1 to Eastleigh with 27 minutes remaining and an extra man.

Tom Denton pulled another one back for Halifax, before Eastleigh’s goalkeeper Ross Flitney also saw red after being issued a second yellow.

Hull loanee Daniel Batty grabbed the equaliser in stoppage time to level the exciting yet disappointing game for Hill’s men.
