Barton’s swim stars achieve in the Olympic pool

December 1, 2017

Barton Swim team

Barton Peveril is making a name for itself in the competitive world of school and college swimming. The College’s boys team achieved top ten places in their events at the English School Swimming Association gala at the Olympic swimming pool in Stratford, London, against top squads from more than 100 English state and private schools.

First years Max Nugent, William Whitlock, Tyler Ellis and Kieran Beckett came seventh overall in the freestyle relay and 10th in the medley relay, despite being among the youngest in their age band. They plan to return in 2018. Each boy achieved personal bests in the heats and finals.

‘The four of us knew each other from school and swimming clubs which helped us to do well as a team,”
explains Max. “I hope that our performance will inspire others to swim competitively and maybe Barton
will enter more teams in next year’s ESSA event.’
