Village Hall set to hold Charity Dress Swap

January 12, 2018

New Year New You is a popular phrase as people make resolutions. This year a group of local volunteers have decided to enable people to do just this, while donating money to charity and having fun.

Food Allergy Aware is proudly sponsoring a Charity Dress Swap afternoon from 2.00 to 5.00 p.m. on Sunday 4th February in order to raise funds for Dravets Syndrome UK and Wave105’s Cash for Kids at Colden Common Village Hall. The afternoon will include a fashion show, talks and stands where those attending can purchase hand crafted goods, as well as having the opportunity to win prizes in a raffle.

Those who want to swap clothes, simply have to look through their wardrobe prior to attending, find at least 3 items of clothing (this can also be handbags or pairs of shoes too) which are no longer wanted but in very good condition (clothes must be clean and ironed and ideally labelled with sizes) and then bring the unwanted items with them.
Items will be collected on arrival, while those attending check out the stands, watch demonstrations and attend talks. Organisers sort the items provided and then those attending take home the same number of items they brought with them (having remembered to bring a bag with them for their new items). If there are items left over there will be the possibility of taking home extra items for a small donation to the two great causes; DSUK and Cash for Kids.

Talks include:
Denise Mortimer ‘Using positive psychology to create a happier planet’ (a talk to inspire you to introduce simple actions which will have a major impact on your own level of happiness)

Kate Hampton helping people to declutter

Sharon Bell’s “Hidden Agenda” (including a bra fitting demonstration)

Tanya & Claire from Wise & Gorgeous, famed locally for their mindfulness and healthy living courses talking about Change.

The fashion show will be provided by Curvey Honey dresses.

This event is being organised by volunteers who want to create a great event and raise lots of money for charities dear to their hearts while supporting local people.
