Data just released by the Office for National Satistics show Eastleigh residents are in the grip of a 1970’s revival as up to 2000 people struggle to live on £64.30 a week.
That is all the former Railway Towns jobseekers, the number of which has almost doubled in the last year, have to look forward to by way of Unemployment Benefit.
However the scheme is still proving popular with up to a 100 new people signing on every week. One claimant said:
