Hedge End Special Constable Warner Baker is to receive an MBE in the Queens New Year honours list it has been announced.
He has been based at Hedge End since 1991 and was promoted to the rank of section officer 8 years ago.
As a volunteer policeman he has a regular 9-5 job working for the South Central Strategic Health Authority but still finds the time – when not too busy working or policing – to take part in community events like the village carnival and the Eastleigh 10k road race.
It was estimated that he has contributed almost 10,000 hours of voluntary service to the local community.
“Policing is about getting involved with the community” he explained “It’s a very worthwhile and rewarding career’.
SC Baker is not only Hampshire Police Officer to be recognised in this year’s honours list – an MBE also goes to PC Ahmed Sasso from Totton.
Chief Constable Alex Marshall said: “Hampshire Constabulary is extremely fortunate to have benefited from two such devoted and exemplary officers.
