The School league tables for Hampshire’s 84 secondary schools have just been released. The seven secondary schools in the Eastleigh area had 3 schools placed in the top 25 with Thornden school ranked 10th. Alderman Quilley however was 10th from bottom .
Thornden’s continuing success has led to it becoming oversubscribed and this in turn has stoked demand for housing resulting in higher than average house values in it’s Chandlers Ford catchment area. It has been reported that some parents, finding themselves priced out of the market have even resorted to renting property within the catchment area to ensure a place for their child.
Writing on the Quilley School website, Headmaster Richard Kelly claims that rising standards have led to the school being consistently placed in the top 25% when compared nationally.
The table below shows Eastleigh’s secondary schools ranked by the % of pupils in the final year achieving 5 GCSE results or more at grade C or above, including Maths and English. The figure in brackets after the school denotes the position of the school in the Hampshire league table (out of 84).
