Police warned tradesmen in Bishopstoke not to leave their tools in their van over night following a series of van break-ins resulting in the loss of valuable tools.
Tools have been stolen from six parked vans since the start of the month.
Crime Prevention Officer for Eastleigh, Barbara Clayton, said:
“If possible van owners should remove items from inside the vehicle and lock them away. If the items cannot be removed van owners should consider adding extra security, such as alarm systems or secure cages inside the vehicle. Property can also be marked with a detectable DNA marking product”
Anyone who may have witnessed these incidents in Bishopstoke should contact Eastleigh police station on 101, or call Crimestoppers, the charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
