Locals commit to keep fit

Treadmill Runners

In another sign that the local economy may have turned a corner, Eastleigh’s residents appear determined to stick to their New Year’s resolutions to diet and exercise by joining private gyms . Not even the recession or the sub zero temperatures have stopped them flocking to sign up at the Towns fitness centres.

“We are even seeing a few more this year” I was told by the Kinetika gym at council owned Fleming Park Leisure Centre. “Runners and joggers have also been coming in to use our facilities while paths and roads are still treacherous”.

Fitness centres have been offering incentives to those wishing to join and work off those extra Christmas calories. The Kinetika offer expired tonight but in the neighbouring ‘Spirit’ Health Club, Lifestyle Consultant Gareth Smith said they would continue to offer a range of concessions until the end of January -including discounted membership and free hotel stays.
