Eastleigh’s play-off dream has been kept alive with back to back wins this week when they won vital away games to Basingstoke then Staines.

Following the 8-2 trashing by Thurrock Eastleigh were able to beat Basingstoke 1-0 thanks to an Anthony Rivieire second half strike.

Meanwhile at Staines yesterday Sam Butler gave Eastleigh an early lead which the Spitfires added to on half time thanks to an own goal by Yado Mambo.

Leroy Griffiths pulled one back for Staines from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute but Eastleigh held on to claim all three points.

Eastleigh are now 7th in the Blue Square South table and just a few points adrift of the play-offs.

This week has also seen the departure of Jo Tessem and Matt Day from the club.
