Ivestigations under way at the site today

Police have named the construction worker who died in an industrial accident on the McAleer and Rushe site at the Rose Bowl, as 34 year old Philip Carsley from Thurnscoe, North Yorkshire.

Police and the Health and Safety Executive are currently investigating the circumstances that led to Mr Carsley’s tragic death, which occurred at around.2pm yesterday

Both the Daily Echo and The Portsmouth News have reported that Mr Carlsey was crushed by a concrete block whch fell from a crane.

Although the air ambulance was called Mr Carsley died at the scene

Today, there was no activity to be seen at the West End site, which is being redeveloped with the construction of two new stands at a cost of £50million.
