Gold chains grabbed in snatch theft

Police are appealing for information following the snatch theft of gold chains from a pawnbroker in Eastleigh.

The incident occurred at a shop in Leigh Road at around 5pm on Friday June 18.

A man entered the shop and asked to have a closer look at a chain from the display; he then grabbed a number of other chains and fled the store on foot.

The suspect is thought to be from Eastern Europe and is described as aged in his late teens to early twenties with an athletic build, around 5ft 9.

He had short dark black hair and dark eyebrows and was wearing a black hooded top with dark blue jeans and short black boots.

PC Jennifer Dalziel said: ā€œI would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who has been offered a gold chain for sale in the Eastleigh area.ā€

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact PC Jennifer Dalziel at Eastleigh police station on 101. Alternatively you can call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

    Possibly that the shop assistant happened to be listening when he asked to have a closer look at a chain?

    Shop assistants do have a habit of doing that you know! šŸ˜‰
