Axeman gives shop the chop!

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted burglary at a supermarket in Chandler’s Ford.

The incident took place at around 1.15am on Tuesday July 13 at the Waitrose store in Oakmount Road.

An axe was used to smash one of the store windows but no entry was gained.
PC James Pieri said: “After the window was smashed, the man was seen by CCTV to walk away in the direction of Eastleigh town centre. It is possible he was disturbed by a car either driving along Oakmount Road or leaving the car park opposite the store.

“I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a suspicious man in the area of Oakmount Road in the early hours of Tuesday July 13.”

Anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information about it, is asked to contact PC James Pieri at Eastleigh police station on 101. Alternatively you can call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
