Local Surgeon named as one of top 10 in UK

Dunlop Douglas 3

A local orthopaedic consultant has been named as one of the top ten hip replacement surgeons by his peers in a recent poll conducted by the Daily Mail asking other hip surgeons who they would send their ‘nearest and dearest’ to should they need a total hip replacement and why.

Mr Douglas Dunlop, who has a private practice at Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital on Winchester Road, Chandlers Ford specialising in hip and knee disorders, was cited by colleagues as: “A top performer, a superb all rounder, combining excellent surgery with an academic foundation.”

He was “delighted and humbled” to have been singled-out in this way; “It is a real vindication of all the years of study and the experience I have gained both in the UK and overseas.

“To be recognised by my peers in this way means a lot – it is a very personal recommendation. However, it is the positive feedback that I get from my patients that always reassures me the most about the efficacy of my skills,” said Mr Dunlop.

Simon Shepherd, General Manager at Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital commented: “Everyone at the Wessex is thrilled that the expertise of Mr Dunlop has been recognised in this way. We always appreciated his skills and are delighted to be able to support his practice, making his expertise available to the people of Hampshire.

Well done Douglas, it about time people who really do make a difference to others make the headlines for a change. So refreshing and such a change from the other BS we hear from the local council and it’s bottom feeders spinning us stories about what good they do.

Let’s hear about more people like this in the Borough.

I’m sure this is the guy who did my Mum’s hip a couple of years ago.
He did a great job…unfortunately she now needs the other one doing too….

You should have got a two for one deal..

Joking aside, what a shame she has to go through all that again. Best wishes to mum for a quick recovery.

My mum had her hip done on the NHS – this wasn’t the chap she initally consulted though.

A hip replacement does seems to be a pretty gruelling operation for anyone, let alone an elderly person to have to undergo – but they do give you some heavy duty painkillers David!

    You’d be on cloud 9!

With mum the pain and mobility issues got to the point where anything would be preferable.

Talking of mobility issues reminds me there is a story about the Blue Badge Scheme I need to post…
