Eastleigh fans felt like ‘Crying in the Chapel’ as Woking new boy Elvis Hammond settled this FA Cup fourth qualifying round with a ‘Heartbreaker’ 67th minute shot that left the Spitfire’s defence ‘Paralysed’ and put Woking through to the next round 3-2.
Eastleigh came to the match off the back of 3 – 0 win over Woking in the league and a 5-0 demolition of Clevedon in the previous cup tie.
After a minutes applause to mark the passing of Woking legend Colin Lippiat, Eastleigh got off to a flying start with hot shot Richard Gillespie curling one in on two minutes then going close again a few minutes after the restart.
The Cards found themselves forced to make a last ditch clearance on the 20 minutes following a goalmouth scramble but Ademola soon levelled the score for Woking with a shot off the post and then provided a cross for a Faulconbridge tap in to put Woking 2-1 up just before the break.
Early in the second half former Woking player Jamie Slabber equalised for Eastleigh before the see saw battle was finally settled by Elvis Hammond scoring first goal for his new club by ushering in a rebound off the keeper.
