Halloween Events for Half Term

October half term holidays are here and there are plenty of local Halloween themed events to keep the youngsters busy next week.

This Saturday, October 23rd there will be a Halloween fancy dress competition at the Swan Centre , Eastleigh with face painting, creepy crafts and spooky treasure trail. You can also meet Rodney the Dragon, the Hollywood Count, Uncle Fester and the Wicked Witches.

Also starting from Saturday there is a weeklong series of events at Itchen Valley Country Park. Every day till Saturday October 30th there will be a Halloween trail with spooky clues and prizes.


Each morning there will also be a chance to make a different craft item – from Halloween cookies to lanterns.

On Saturday 30th there will be a Halloween party from 6.30 to 8.15pm which includes a walk in the woods and lantern making.

Also on Saturday the 30th there will be a fancy dress barn dance at starting at 8pm in Hedge End Village Hall.

Music will be provided by local folk band the Kings men details from the St George Festival committee 01489 795289 or 02380 517054 .


Saturday 30th also sees a Halloween night and fancy dress competition in the Ray Allen museum in the Bishopstoke Community Centre on Church Road Bishopstoke from 7pm Entrance is FREE. Refreshments will be available more details form Bishopstoke Community Association on 07772 459897.

Finally after all that Trick or Treating you will be able to re cycle your used Pumpkin lantern with Eastleigh Borough Council – just stick it out on top of the brown food waste bin and it will be collected.

This was described as ‘an exciting initiative’ by Cllr Louise Bloom who added:

“As local people enjoy Halloween I would encourage them to make sure they recycle their pumpkins.”
