A 37-year-old Bitterne man has died in a motorbike accident in Hedge End.
The collision occurred at 3pm on Sunday when the motorcyclist, who was riding a blue and white Yamaha along Bubb Lane, was in collision with a green John Deere tractor. The motorcyclist died at the scene but the tractor driver, a 32-year-old man from Upham, was not injured.
The road was closed for six hours while road crash investigators examined the scene.
Three weeks ago a popular local biker, Wayne Moores, was tragically killed in a road accident near Swindon and this latest incident is the second fatality this year on Bubb Lane.
In January a West End man, Geoffry Smith, died when he lost control of his Land Rover.
This evening flowers and football shirts had been left at the scene by way of a tribute to the deceased.
Witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the crash, are asked to contact PC Zonia Thompson at the Road Death Investigation Team at Eastleigh on 101, quoting Operation Melton.
