The fire which started at about 7 pm left the unit gutted, however this morning there seemed few external signs of the blaze which had involved up to 50 firefighters from stations around South Hampshire.

Workers at other business presmises on the estate were unaware that there had been fire at all.

The scene this morning

Incident Commander, Kevin Evenett said:

“Crews arrived at the scene to find a well developed fire involving an industrial unit used for catering purposes. Due to the rapid response of our crews the fire was contained to the unit of origin and did not spread to any of the neighbouring units or the residential properties within close proximity.”

A fire investigation by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service will now get underway to determine the cause of the fire.
