Undefeated Southampton based lightweight Matty Tew put his talent on display again and produced a storming victory at the Oceana nightclub last Sunday. The Southampton local and crowd favourite entered the ring amid the cheers of his army of loyal supporters that packed the venue providing an electric atmosphere. Tew’s manager Mickey Helliet who was delighted with Tews performance remarked:
“the atmosphere in the club was amazing, everyone had a great time, and Matty once again showed how much he has progressed it was a good performance against an opponent who could test Matty and pushed him all the way.”
As soon as the bell rang Tew got down to business and went to work on his opponent who seemed more occupied with showboating and bating the crowd. However the fight was evenly contested until the later rounds where Tew turned up the pace and his grit and determination paved the way for his fifth consecutive win. He went after his opponent who was unable to handle the pressure Tew put on him. Tew is currently shooting up the rankings and will be looking to contest titles in the near future.
Jon Fernandes another Southampton based boxer who is also undefeated in five was successful once again on the night after defeating Stoyan Serbezov of Bulgaria in a four round contest. He won in emphatic fashion against an opponent known for his explosive punching power. The two had already met last year when Fernandes was put on the deck but managed to get up and outbox his opponent. However this time Fernandes showed how much he had improved and took control early and even wobbled his opponent on a number of occasions.
