The accident happened on Knightwood Road

Police are still appealing for witnesses after a five-year-old girl sustained life-threatening injuries following a serious crash in Chandlers Ford.

At about 3.20pm on Thursday, November 18, the girl was riding a child’s scooter along the pavement on Knightwood Road, Valley Park. Her mother was walking with her.

The child, from Chandlers Ford, appears to have fallen from the scooter onto the road into the path of a single-decker bus- reported in the Daily Mail as belonging to ‘Velvet’ – which was travelling north-west along Knightwood Road.

The girl sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital in serious condition although most recent reports states her condition has ‘improved’.

The bus driver, a 50-year-old man from Hedge End, was not injured.

Officers are appealing for anyone with any information to contact Acting Sergeant David Dyer, at Totton Roads Policing Unit, quoting Operation Tarlatan, on 101.

Alternatively, you can call the charity Crimestoppers line anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
