Radian to get new skipper

Social landlord Radian Group today announced that Richard Hastilow has been appointed as its new Chairman. A successful naval captain and businessman, Richard takes over the Eastleigh based Housing association which has an annual turnover of £100m and provides almost 18,000 homes as well as support for some 400 people with disabilities.

He replaces Mike Caton, who was made Group Chairman in December 2009 to oversee a review which has now been realised, in the form of a group combined board and resident Area Panels.

Richard joins Radian after nine years as Chief Executive of The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) while his 32 year naval career culminated in the command of the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible, supporting operations in Bosnia.

Richard has strong links across Radian’s catchment. He lives near Petersfield and was Managing Director of Hampshire Training and Enterprise Council and Business Link Group for four years and says he cares passionately about Radian’s work in meeting the housing and care needs of the communities it works with across the South.

Lindsay Todd, Radian’s Chief Executive said, “We would like to thank Mike for his outstanding contribution to our business over so many years. We welcome Richard to the Radian team at an exciting stage in our development as we respond to the challenges of the economic landscape whilst maintaining our focus on creating sector leading housing, care and support.”

Lets hope that Richard Hastilow time in the Navy will allow him to bring a new command on the problems of anti social behaviour that has plagued residents of Swaything Housing in Eastleigh.

Time to take down the Jolly Roger and Hoist the Jack for local residents Richard..!!
