Recycle your Christmas tree

Now Twelfth Night is here Christmas decorations will be coming down in homes throughout the Borough.

The council have issued a reminder to households that Christmas trees can be recycled rather than thrown away.

There are twelve sites throughout the borough whereChristmas trees can be taken to be recycled up to the 16 January:

• Lakeside Country Park – Wide Lane, Eastleigh

• Haskins Garden Centre – Mansbridge Road, West End

• Wyevale Garden Centre – Winchester Road, Fair Oak

• Brambridge Garden Centre – Brambridge, Near Winchester

• Mortimer Road Car Park – Botley

• Hedge End Bowls Club – Woodhouse Lane, Hedge End

• Homebase – Hedge End Retail Park

• Arturi’s Garden Centre – Allington Lane, Fair Oak

• Household Waste and Recycling Centre – Shamblehurst Lane, Hedge End

• Household Waste and Recycling Centre – Knowle Lane, Fair Oak

• Household Waste and Recycling Centre – Woodside Avenue, Eastleigh

• Household Waste and Recycling Centre – Grange Road, Netley

The collected trees are composted or treated along with other green waste to produce an environmentally friendly range from ‘PRO GROW’ which includes lawn conditioner, pine bark, woodchip mulch and peat free soil conditioner.

    According the the Echo and EBC you can also leave them out with your Green Bag for collection…. But there is a BIG But… Not till at least next week as there are no Green Bag collections over Xmas New Year… don’t remember reading that in the t’s & c’s for Green bag collection…. a service that is bound to go up again by another inflation busting 10% this year again. (Stealth Council Tax)
