Ex-Scotland rugby captain, Budge Pountney, is bringing rugby to young children in Eastleigh through his new business venture Rugbytots South Hants. Rugbytots combines the multiple skills used in rugby with a fun, energetic and structured play programme for children between the ages of two and seven.
Running Rugbytots classes is a dream come true for franchise owners Budge Pountney and Hogie Wood. Explained Budge:
“We both love and adore the sport of rugby and come from a rugby playing background”,
“Our whole philosophy is to have fun whilst providing a good structured lesson which will not only benefit your child’s health and fitness but also encourage your child to learn and respect the game of rugby and the great values and traditions associated with the game. You never know we may even find the star of the 2031 Rugby World Cup!”
Born in Southampton and brought up in Winchester, Budge returned to the area with his family after a successful rugby career which included playing 213 times for Northampton Saints and 31 times for Scotland. His rugby honours include winning the European Cup, the Calcutta cup win and the last 5 Nations championship. He also represented Scotland in the 1999 Rugby World Cup.
Rugbytots classes are being held at Fleming Park and at venues across South Hampshire from mid-September. There are also a number of taster sessions being run from 18th September. For more information about classes and taster sessions visit rugbytots.co.uk or call Budge and Hogie on 0845 313 3244
