Eight months after two Councillors resigned from the Liberal Democrats and became independents, the Eastleigh Liberal Democrats website still lists them as being Liberal Democrats.
At the time of writing this article, the Lib Dems website has been correctly updated to take account of an earlier round of high-profile defections that occurred in January, where three Lib Dems resigned, but it has not yet been updated to show that Councillor Keith Day and [former] Councillor Jenny Schwausch are no longer Liberal Democrats.
Besides those names being incorrectly attributed to the Lib Dems, the web page also fails to reflect the changes that occurred in the local elections in May of this year.
The reasons for the Lib Dems failure to keep Eastleigh residents correctly informed via their website are unknown, but it does mean that the work of two independent politicians could incorrectly be attributed to the Lib Dems.
However, the Lib Dems failure has had an interesting side-effect.
The Hedge End page on their website includes a claim from the Lib Dems 2011 election campaign, to the effect that fields in Heath House Lane have been saved from development.
Unfortunately for the Lib Dems, the draft local plan that is currently in a period of consultation shows a new bypass being bulldozed through those fields…
