Detectives have sealed off two areas in Chandlers Ford following the theft of a cash box from a G4S security Guard a delivery to the HSBC bank at the Precinct.

This is the same security company and bank branch which were targeted in the 2007 armed robbery which resulted in two of the robbers being shot dead by police marksmen.

This time no one has been injured.

The robber, wearing a balaclava, struck at 9.42 this morning when he accosted the security guard and demanded the cash box he was carrying.

The box containing an undisclosed sum of money was handed over and the offender ran to a sliver Volvo car which was waiting and sped off.

The car was later found abandoned at Symonds Close less than a quarter of a mile away.

Both the area around HSBC bank and Symonds Close are closed off while Police continue to search for any forensic evidence.

The cash box was recovered from the abandoned vehicle but it is not known if the money was still inside.

Anyone with information that will assist police with the investigation should contact the District Investigation Team at Eastleigh police station on 101 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

I wonder if they sped off down Chalvington Road with all its rotten speed humps. Kind of conjures up a picture of the villain inside trying to hold on to the cash box (which was probably empty)!

Symonds is off Shaftesbury…just by Dave’s house.
The thought anyone trying to make a getaway down Chalvington is pretty amusing though.

Shortly before the News of the World was closed they reported on the trial of a gang of counterfeiters who had printed up thousands of £s worth of £20 notes in their garage.

They told the court “We were only following govt and BOE policy”

I do love the manner in which you have presented this specific issue plus it really does supply me personally some fodder for consideration. However, coming from what precisely I have personally seen, I simply just hope when the actual remarks stack on that men and women remain on point and in no way embark upon a tirade regarding some other news of the day. Yet, thank you for this exceptional piece and though I do not necessarily concur with it in totality, I value the point of view.
