Eastleigh College students came up with the fund raising idea of a ‘Male Waxing Day’ to help raise money for Children in Need. Students and staff were successful in enticing many male participants which included college staff and their relatives, sports and construction students, and even support from the Army signing up for back waxes!
The Level 2 Beauty Students had a busy day at the College beauty salon, Essence @ Eastleigh, raising a staggering £2,003 for Children in Need.
Max Small, a partner of one of the College’s Beauty lecturers, raised over £400 through sponsorship for having his legs waxed. Max said:
“I’ve never done anything like this before; it did hurt but got easier towards the end! I love children and Children in Need is a great charity, I’m pleased with how supportive people have been in donating and am glad I did it.”
Vanessa Parker, beauty lecturer at Eastleigh College, said:
“We’ve had a fantastic response from college staff, students and the public. The students have worked hard to promote the event and get through as many waxes as possible, and it’s paid off with such a huge amount raised.”
Other students at the College raised funds through various activities including cake stalls and dressing up in pyjamas for the day.
