The National Diploma in Hospitality Level 3 students, and the Catering department staff, organised a Christmas treat for a select group of around 40 children between the ages of 3-8 years. The event included a menu devised by the students consisting of homemade chicken goujons, pizza and chips, along with homemade mince pies and shortbread for the parents! Children then got to meet Santa in his grotto to receive a present, before taking part in the numerous activities arranged for them including: decorating biscuits, paper chain making, pass the parcel and writing letters to Santa.
The usually relaxed and inviting restaurant was converted into a Christmas wonderland with Santa’s grotto and seasonal flower arrangements made by the College’s Floristry Level 3 students.
Glen Lee brought both her children to the event and said:
“It’s been lovely and it’s definitely a good idea for college staff and students to arrange this. The children have enjoyed the lovely food and are very excited about meeting Santa!”
Lizzie Lloyd, a first year catering student, commented:
“This is a different style of event that we’re used to, and although we like the usual restaurant set up and serving adults, it’s also nice to see we can cater for young children too.”
