Police appeal for info following weekend crimes


Police in Eastleigh are appealing for help after a robbery and a burglary the town over the weekend.

The first incident occurred in Chestnut Avenue.

At around 11am on Friday two men approached a pair of college students in a bus stop opposite Alderman Quilley school on Chestnut Ave. They threatened the students with knives and demanded their mobile phones.

An iPhone-3 and a Samsung mobile were handed over to the robbers who then ran off in the direction of the college, the students were unharmed and called the police.

The robbers are described as:

White male, skinny, 5ft 5inches – 5ft 11inches tall, 16-18, short messy light brown hair, clean shaven. Dirty appearance. Dark grey round neck jumper, wearing dark tracksuit bottoms.

White male, chubby build, 5ft 5 inches tall to 6ft, 16-18 years old, short dark brown hair, no facial hair.

Black addidas top with a addidas multi-coloured (including pink and yellow) motif in the middle.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident or of anyone seen acting suspiciously around Chestnut Avenue Friday morning.

The second incident occurred during the early hours of Sunday morning when a burglary was discovered by police officers at Samson’s Gym on Chamberlayne Rd.  Three men aged 23, 24 and 27 – all from the Eastleigh area – were stopped and subsequently arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal and one for a drugs related offence.

Eastleigh police continued enquiries throughout the day with forensic teams examining the premises, a number of houses and vehicles were searched and property seized.  All three men have been bailed for further enquiries until a date in June.
