This July Hedge End will come alive to the sound of music, not quite Julie Andrews, but bands from all around the local area, both young and old with music from all genres.
Party In The Park is the biggest music event ever to be held in Hedge End, and is the brain child of two local men, Ken Deacon, and David Gates.
David is best known for his background in the radio and music world, and set up Hedge End’s only community radio station back in 2005 he also appears regularly on stage at the summer carnival and fireworks display held by the Carnival Committee in the village.
Kenny runs his own window cleaning service and is involved in the local football scene, training young stars of the future, both at Sholing and now returning to Hedge End Rangers as a coach.
“Kenny first put the idea to me a couple of years ago, he is a keen supporter of involving young people in sport and wanted to expand this into music so that’s how the idea came about” said David.
Party In The Park will be held on Saturday 21 July in Greta Park right in the centre of the Village, it starts at midday and runs until 10pm at night and is going to be a great day of all round entertainment, not just music.
“The idea is to create a mini festival atmosphere we may not be as big as Reading or The Isle of Wight yet, but we see this as the first of many and look forward to it growing each year.”
The organizers are now looking for all types of acts to appear and also stallholders who would like to come along, if you are interested in finding out more then call them on 01489 78 9749.
