Park Sport 2012 is proving more popular than ever so ‘don’t miss out and sign up soon’ that’s the message from Eastleigh Borough Council as hundreds of local children have already signed up for this years summer scheme – fishing has already sold out and many others are filling up fast!
Now in its eighth year, the programme organised by Eastleigh Borough Council, offers girls and boys aged between 8 -16 years old the chance to get free professional coaching in a variety of sports including football, tennis, fishing, dance, basketball, table tennis and skateboarding. Most sessions will then take place on a weekly basis finishing on Friday 28th August. The aim is to use local coaches from local sports clubs so if the children enjoy the activity they can continue to enjoy their chosen activity at a local club after the summer to follow.
The best local sports coaches are lined up for Eastleigh’s FREE summer sports programme which is supported by CooperVision, Eastleigh’s Community Safety Partnership and First Wessex.
The scheme, that’s kicks off on Monday 23 July, will provide approximately 350 free sports sessions over the 5 full weeks of the summer holidays at nearly 30 locations spread across the Borough.
Managing Director of CooperVision UK Manufacturing Kevin Barrett said “We are really proud to again be taking part in this popular and worthwhile community initiative. CooperVision are keen to get involved in the local community and to share some of the unique skills and experiences of our diverse and exceptional people.”
Cabinet Lead for Leisure Cllr Alan Broadhurst, Leisure said ‘We are delighted to have such a great programme of events for local youngsters to enjoy. Park Sport allows young people across the Borough to access quality sports sessions on their doorstep throughout the summer holidays. He added “Participation in sports not only helps to improve young people’s health but it helps to focus their attention on fun and enjoyable activities”
