Police and civilian staff lined up outside Eastleigh Police station at 11 am this morning to observe a minutes silence as a mark of respect for colleagues in the Greater Manchester Police force who were murdered yesterday.
Two unarmed Police officers, Nicola Hughes, 23, and Fiona Bone, 32, were killed in a gun and grenade attack after calling on a property to investigate the report of a burglary.
A 29 year old male suspect was arrested close to the scene and is still being questioned by machester dectectives.
Sergeant Chris Spellerberg of Eastleigh’s Safer Neighbourhood’s Team said:
“Officers continue to report on duty on each shift, ready to protect the public, albeit the mood sombre.”
The thoughts of everyone in @HantsPolice are with our colleagues in GMP and the families suffering as a result of today's terrible events.
