Trojans ladies 1’s once again had to travel to Exeter on the opening day of the Investec Women’s Western Conference where they faced one of the leagues stronger sides ICSA.
Unfortunately the ladies came away from Exeter having lost 2-0. Trojans started slowly and didn’t recover until the final 15 minutes where it was too late to strike back.
Hockey in Southampton relies on the Trojans ladies as they are the highest placed team in the regions.
Ladies 1st XI Coach Toby Mullins tweeted “overcome by nerves” he went on to tweet “never mind, we shall get back to our best for next week”.

With several players still to return to the squad including former England U18 star Jenny Peebles and new signing Elli Preston Trojans will be hoping to pick up 3 points next week when they face Firebrands.
There were Trojans debuts for Emma Evans who moved to Trojans from Havant, Racheal Rountree & Jo Slade who both signed from Southampton, Jill Tombs who moved to Trojans from Richmond and Barbados international Kimberly Rock who made her debut in the English game.
Trojans next National League game is against Bristol Firebrand, a 12 noon push back at the clubs home ground of Stoneham Lane.
Games are free to watch from the stand and from the bar.
The Men’s 1’s beat Chichester 7-2 in a pre-season friendly at Stoneham lane. Trojans beat last years Hants/Surrey 2 winners comfortably with goals from James Sordillo (2), Rory King (2), Ed Jeffery (2) and Ben Frost (1).
You could have easily mistaken this preseason game for a league encounter with both teams going all out to win.
Despite 10 minutes of dominance at the beginning of the second half Trojans weathered the storm and came out comfortable winners.
There was also a yellow card for Trojans goal scoring hero James Sordillo.
The men’s 2’s lost to Wimbourne who scored twice in the last 10 minutes to secure a 3-2 win after captain Adam Claridge and Eddy Evans put Trojans 2-1.
With 1 week left of pre-seasons games 2’s Captain Adam Claridge & team manager Andy Gilbert will be looking for a win in next weekend fixture.
The Ladies 2’s travelled 10 minutes down the M3 to play Winchester where they came out 2-1 winners. Trojans Ladies 3’s lost out to Waterside 3-1 although there were lots of positives.
