Woman witness sought over catalytic converter thefts

Officers from the Eastleigh Vehicle Crime Team are appealing for a woman witness to contact them as they investigate a series of thefts and attempted thefts of catalytic converters in Hedge End.

On Sunday afternoon, September 9, the woman told staff in the Barrett show home sales office at Labburn Meadows that some men were acting suspiciously around a 4×4 vehicle near the office.

The woman, who has dark hair and is about 5ft 3ins tall, was alone.

Between 5.30 – 6.30pm that day, thieves attempted to steal a catalytic converter from a Mitsubishi Shogun parked behind a home at White’s Way, Hedge End. Said PC Ella Knight of the Eastleigh Vehicle Crime Team:

“We believe this woman could have important information about the men seen looking at the 4×4 near the sales office”

She is asking the woman to contact them at Eastleigh on 101, extension 731153

Two men , a 29-year-old from Eastleigh and a 23-year-old from West Wellow, are currently in custody on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.
