Hedge End jacket thief flees empty handed

Cotswolds att theft suspect

Police at Hedge End today released a CCTV still of a man suspected of the attempted theft of jackets from Cotswolds Outdoor shop, Lower Northam Road, Hedge End.

At about 3.30pm Thursday, September 27, a man attempted to leave the shop without paying for seven jackets with a total value of about £1,000.

The man is described as white with medium length blond hair.  He is in his late twenties and wore a blue hoody and blue jeans.

The store manager, a 40-year-old Portsmouth man, wrestled with the attempted thief and managed to recover the merchandise.  The man fled, empty-handed, down a nearby alleyway.

PC Lee Prior appealed for information from anyone who recognises the man in the photo.

“We also would like to hear from anyone who saw a man running from the shop and down the alleyway, possibly to a waiting vehicle,”
