With 11 teams in action on Saturday 13thOctober Trojans Hockey Club made a statement of intent showing the hockey world that they are on the way back to the top.
The day finished with the Southampton based hockey club coming away with 8 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss.
Leading by example Southampton’s only National League hockey team – Trojans ladies 1st XI – travelled to London where they faced Barnes.
Although Barnes took an early lead Trojans goal scoring sensation Sally Gibson scored twice ensuring Trojans left London with all 3 points.
The win see’s Trojans sitting joint second in Investec English Hockey League Western Conference.
Trojans 1st XI coach Toby Mullins took to twitter to express his delight with his team’s performance,
“Well done ladies. Another 2 goals for Gibbo. Joint second in the league”
Whilst the Ladies 1’s were in action in the capital Trojans Men’s 1st XI took on Basingstoke at Stoneham lane.
In a closely fought encounter it was Trojans who came out with two goals for Ed Jeffery and one a piece for James Sordillo and Rory King.
The game finished 4-3 to Trojans who continue their Hants/Surrey 2 campaign next week against HAC.
The win see’s Trojans sitting in second place.
The ladies 2’s picked up their first win of the season against high flying Worthing with goals from Barbados International Kimberly Rock and Jill Tombs who moves to Trojans from Richmond.
Trojans Men’s 2nd XI picked up a point against top of the league Gosport. Ian Brook scored Trojans only goal and one point could have been three had T’s goal Keeper Daniel Hussey kept his legs closed.
The ladies 3’s continued their impressive form walking away 2-1 winners in the days late push back.
The days other results saw the men’s 3’s beat Andover 2’s 2-1, the men’s 4’s take Yateley apart walking away with a 7-1 victory, the Men’s 5th XI drawing 3-3 in a thriller away against Bournemouth and the men’s 6th XI beating Salisbury 2-1. The men’s trooper also picked up a victory.
