Local Comet closes December 10

A closing down sale with few customers yesterday

Staff at Eastleigh’s branch of Comet, the stricken electrical retailer have been officially told the store will be closing confirming their worst fears.

Disappointed workers at the Woodside Avenue store – currently running  a fire sale of stock – were told yesterday that despite administrators Deloittes attempts to find a buyer for the business, the store will cease trading on December 10.

Eastleigh News understands there will only statutory minimum redundancy terms for those that qualify while staff have proudly described how the Eastleigh store had ‘one of the best performing teams in the country’ which  regularly came top in the region and called the decision to close ‘a shame’.

Stock levels of many items in store seem to thinning out with shelves looking bare as the popular store begins to resemble Woolworth’s in its final days before closure, Christmas 2008.
