Trojans make an example of Haslemere

Another cracking weekend for Trojans which included a sensational performance from the men’s 2nd team, the ladies 4’s and 3’s continuing to show their dominance, the return of a familiar face against the men’s 1’s and the Ladies 1st XI drawing in front of the biggest home crowd of the season.

With more wins that loses yet again Trojans are proving why Stoneham lane is the home of hockey in Southampton.

Trojans men’s 2nd XI took on the students from Southampton and made them feel like they would have been better off staying at home to study. Trojans took all 3 points winning 13-0 and proving to the rest of Hampshire 2 they might still make a push for promotion.

The Men’s 1st XI travelled to Haslemere where they faced former Trojan Ali Jenner. A poor opening 35 minutes performance from Trojans which included 1 goal for both sides and a yellow card for Trojans Ian Bassett was followed by a sensational 2nd half.

Trojans came out fighting and after several weeks of poor performances finally played like they know they can.

Some slick passing meant Trojans dominated the 2nd half which saw Ed Jeffery score his hat-trick, James Sordillo score another goal to take his tally to 5 for the season and Piers Eveleigh score a truly wonderful team goal.

Piers Goals came after 3 or 4 first time passes which resulted in a diving deflection to finish the move off.

The ladies 3’s and 4’s continued their winning ways with 3-1 and 3-0 wins.

The ladies 1’s played their Investec Western Conference game on Sunday in front of the biggest crowd Trojans has seen for a while. It was almost like ‘the good old days’.

Trojans drew 2-2 with Gloucester thanks to goals from Sally Gibson and Charlotte Cox.

The draw keeps Trojans 3rd in the league.
