Richard Hill’s Spitfires will look to claim back to back league victories tonight at home to Truro City at The Silverlake Stadium (7.45pm).
With two weeks without game, Eastleigh has slipped into the relegation zone dropped to 20th in the league.
However their last game should give the team the world of confidence with a superb 5-0 win at home to Billericay Town, which can be found here.
Tonight’s visitors, Truro City currently sit rock bottom of the league with only nine points (after a 10 point deduction).
The White Tiger’s last game was one week ago where they played away to league leaders Salisbury City in a seven goal thriller.
A first half brace from Salisbury’s Chris McPhee sent the hosts into the break with a 2-0 lead however Truro came out in the second half with a positive attitude and manage to claw back the two goal deficit.
Former Fulham and Leicester City striker Barry Hayles netted for the visitors almost straight after the break and just moments later Truro got the equaliser through Kieffer Moore.
However it wasn’t long before the league leaders regained the lead; Theo Lewis netted for Salisbury to restore a one goal lead.
Defender Martin Watts then incredibly got it back to 3-3 with twenty minutes to go but unfortunately for the visitors, Salisbury claimed all three points in the last few minutes of the game.
Former Spitfire and league top goal scorer Jamie White secured the win for The Whites which now sees them nine points clear of Welling in the league.
The last time these two teams played at The Silverlake Stadium, The Spitfires manage to claim all three points.
Bradley Bubb (now on loan to Woking from Aldershot Town) and Jamie Brown gave Eastleigh a two goal cushion going into the break.
Jake Ash pulled on back for Truro however Bubb netted again to claim his brace and secure Eastleigh all three points on that occasion.
With three of the Blue Square Bet South fixtures postponed already today due to a frozen pitch, a recent press release was published to announce tonight’s game is on.
“Tonight’s fixture at home to Truro City has been declared ‘on’ with the pitch and surrounding areas fit for action.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible to welcome new signing Chris Todd to the club and get behind Spitfire manager Richard Hill and his players.
If anyone is free this afternoon and has some spare time, please come to the ground as we still have a small section of snow to clear. Please bring a snow shovel if you own one.”
In other news former Tottenham defender Leigh Mills has parted ways with Eastleigh, a press release on the official website stated.
“Leigh became a Spitfire in September, joining from his hometown Winchester City in September 2012.
The versatile defender who can also play in midfield started his career as a youth team player atSwindon Town but was signed by Tottenham Hotspur as a 16-year-old in 2004.
Leigh has played for a host of other football league clubs including spells at Gillingham and Brentford.
We would all like to thank Leigh for his hard work and effort whilst with the Spitfires.”
In other news Blue Square Bet South rivals Maidenhead United has extended the loan of Chris Flood until the end of the season.
Tonight’s game is going to be a great game so come on down to The Silverlake Staidum and roar on those Spitfires!
