A plant hire firm in Chandler’s Ford has had a £16,000 mini- digger stolen in broad daylight.

Two thieves, who were both wearing ‘hi-vis’ jackets, were spotted brazenly loading Takeuchi mini-digger onto the back of a white van from a site in Sutherlands Court, at 0630 hrs on Friday, May 10.

The first suspect is described as a white male, about 40 years old, 6 feet tall and large build. He had a short dark beard, and was wearing a dark beanie hat and a long sleeved high visibility coat and dark bottoms.

The second suspect is described as a white male, about 35 years old, 5’10” tall with a slim build. He had a ruddy complexion and was wearing a light blue beanie hat, a long sleeved high visibility coat and dark bottoms.

If anyone has any knowledge of this, or has been offered a red and grey Takeuchi TB014 mini excavation digger for sale, please contact the Eastleigh police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

If those two men had NOT been wearing high visibility jackets, would have been able to steal the digger?

Surely if anything symbolizes Britain’s paralysis under a weight of EU health and safety legislation, it is the high visibility jacket.
