Nearly 60 firefighters battled to save three terraced properties in Bursledon tonight (June 10). Control operators mobilised crews following a 999 call at 16:45 to Salterns Lane and crews arrived to discover the roof of one of the three-storey properties well alight.
The roof of the first property collapsed, while the rest of the building was also badly damaged by fire.
The adjoining property suffered fire damage to the first and second floors and also its roof. The third property in the terrace suffered smoke damage.
No-one was injured in the incident.
Group Manager Jason Avery said:
“The initial crews were faced a with a large fire and did an outstanding job to control the flames and prevent it spreading any further than it did.”
Crews from Hightown, Hamble, Redbridge, St Mary’s, Eastleigh and Fareham used seven jets, two hose reels, a compressed foam jet and two sets of breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.
Firefighters are expected to remain on the scene for some hours damping down.
The cause of the fire will now be investigated.
