Police in Eastleigh are reminding residents  of the dangers connected with illegal drug use after a local man was found dead on Tuesday, June 11.

Police were called to a house in Templecombe Road, Bishopstoke,  at about 10.30 am.  An ambulance was called to the address when a man was found collapsed but he was pronounced as dead at the scene.

The dead man was in his early 30′s , and lived elsewhere in Bishopstoke.  A postmortem examination could not ascertain the cause of death, and tissue and blood samples have been sent for analysis.

Police confirmed there was evidence to indicate there had been drug use at the address where the man died.

A 32-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, who were at the address, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of drugs.  They were bailed to return to Southampton Central police station on August 8.

Detective Sergeant Philip Jones, of Eastleigh CID, said:

“At this stage the cause of death is not known, although we suspect illegal drugs may have been a contributory factor.

“I urge people to be aware of the extreme dangers of taking illegal drugs and ask people who have any information concerning the supply of drugs to contact the police.”
