Eastleigh honours our Armed Forces

armed forces day small

Today is Armed Forces Day ( Saturday June 29) and communities across the UK will be coming together to celebrate and  honour the veterans who have served their country – and those who are currently serving – by holding themed events.

Although once again there are no events planned in Eastleigh, the council are flying the armed forces flag from the civic offices following a flag raising ceremony earlier in the week conducted by Mayor Malcolm Cross who said:

“This is a great opportunity for the borough to join the rest of the nation and show its support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community from currently serving troops to service families, and from veterans to recruits.”

If you are interested in attending an event this weekend and paying tribute to the sacrifices of our servicemen and women, there are events in Salisbury, Andover and Portsmouth listed here
