Winter draws on…

WinterWith the warmest weekend of the year (so far)  predicted, with the sun set to shine on Hedge End Carnival on Satuday (6th July), on Eastleigh Mela and the Mayor on Sunday (7th July) and with Hants Fire & Rescue warning about barbecue safety, elsewhere in the Borough of Eastleigh, staff at Southampton airport have been thinking ahead to the winter…

The Southampton terminal was recently transformed into a winter scene, complete with a giant snowglobe and fake snow, to launch a new ski-route to Innsbruck.

Customers were invited to enter a competition to win a ski holiday for two with Inghams, whilst other goodies up for grabs included World Duty Free vouchers, Southampton Ski Centre vouchers and ski-themed cupcakes. There was even Austrian Schnitzel available from the airport restaurant.

The new Southampton to Innsbruck route will be chartered by Inghams on Saturdays from 21 December. The route will take travellers right into the heart of the Tirol region, in the Austrian Alps, where there are 21 world class skiing resorts to choose from, including the big names of Kitzbühel, Mayrhofen and St. Anton. Customers travelling with Inghams can also travel to one of 9 resorts in Italy via Innsbruck.

Dave Lees, Southampton Airport Managing Director said;

“The new Innsbruck ski route is great news for the airport and ski passengers from Southampton.”

“Innsbruck is a fantastic addition for our winter ski programme, providing even more choice and opportunity for customers wanting to get on the slopes quickly and easily, direct from Southampton.”

“We’re delighted to be working with Inghams on this new route and we’re looking forward to working together to deliver a great winter for our customers.”

Louise Newton, Marketing Manager for Inghams said:

“I am delighted that we have expanded our range of ski holidays from Southampton. This winter lots of high Austrian resorts will be accessible from Southampton, thanks to the new Saturday flight.”

“This makes it straightforward to head up to Austrian gems such as Kühtai and Obergurgl for wonderful ski and boarding holidays.”

“Our customers always give excellent feedback about how easy it is to ‘breeze’ through Southampton Airport and we’re delighted to increase their choice for next winter.”
