Police investigate suspicious incident in Bursledon

Blue Police LampPolice are appealing for witnesses after a suspicious incident was reported to them that happened in Bursledon.

Officers were informed that witnesses had heard a loud scream sometime between 8 and 8.15pm last night, Monday, August 19 and that one person had seen a red car with a young girl, aged about 10, in it who looked distressed and was screaming.

The car was in Long Lane at the time and quickly drove off in the direction of the A27.

There were two men in the car thought to be aged around 40 to 50.

Police say they are keeping an open mind as there may be a perfectly innocent explanation for what happened but they would like to hear from those involved or from anyone else with information about the incident.

They would also urge the girl to contact them or Childline to confirm she is safe and well.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone who may have private CCTV that covers the area that may have caught the incident.

They are asked to call Detective Constable, Sue Hampton at Eastleigh CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
